COSMIC VAN: Transmission 20 - Everything's Bigger in Texas
Posted 11/6/2009 by CosmicVan
Back into Dallas. Last time we were here we barely had time to get into the Lower Greenville area due to a tight time schedule. This time we went to an AC/DC show. We posted the van up in the parking lot to meet some fans before. We tailgated with a dude named Russell (not in the pictures to the left). He was really ready to party. So we hung out and I got him some gear for his 13 year old daughter who is one of those super music enthusiasts. She was a big fan of WM from rock band. Russell said he'd make sure to get her the new WM album now that it's out. Then we went into the AC/DC show. They may be in there 60's but they are rock and roll. Angus Young played so hard we were all joking about the idea of him having "rock and roll on an IV drip backstage before the show".

COSMIC VAN: Transmission 19 - A Whole Lotta Voodoo
Posted 11/4/2009 by CosmicVan
Back in The Big Easy. This time, it was for Voodoo fest. It might not be quite as big as ACL, but it's in New Orleans...and on Halloween. Unfortunately it was raining the first night...hard. The grounds sold out of ponchos and the demand was so big people were selling them off their backs for five times what they were worth. The second day though, everything opened up and it was an amazing day. Wolfmother played at 6:20, which is a heavy-hitter slot at Voodoo. In the morning we hollered at people as they were headed into the grounds. And, as you can imagine there were some hard core fans. One guy just kept saying "eleven eleven 05". Eventually I asked him why. He said that was the last time he saw WM perform. He could have been totally insane, but who cares. Why kill his buzz. So I shouted it with him for a bit and encouraged him to go see the shows. From there we went in to hype some people for the show. Didn't take much work since a lot of fans were already hyped, but it was fun never the less. At 3:30 I went to the media section and got to meet the band. Anyways, off to Dallas!

COSMIC VAN: Transmission 18 - Sweet Carolina
Posted 10/29/2009 by CosmicVan
Some of the nicest people in Greensboro. And loyal fans, too. Right when we pulled up we met a unique family who was partying extra hard in tribute for a family member who couldn't make it to the concert. It was one of the only times the kids were going to get to play ON a car, so we got Jacob on the roof and took a good shot. That's me on the roof with him. I told them I'd put it on the blog and, as promised, here it is. Met lots of other great fans in Greensboro. A group of dudes from a cover band came by. Turns out they love covering some of the Wolfmother tracks from the old album and have pre-ordered the new one. The promised the posters were going up in their practice room. Great to meet you guys!

COSMIC VAN: Transmission 17- The Big Apple
Posted 10/27/2009 by CosmicVan
The cosmic van's next stop was the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn New York. One of the coolest private venues I've been to in a while. It was equal parts venue, bowling alley and restaurant. The real hook though, was that all three parts were awesome in their own right. The venue had an awesome line up from CMJ (New York Music and Film Festival), the bowling alley was set off by the sounds of the venue below and the restaurant had amazing food. If you know Brooklyn at all, then you realize that it has perfected hipster. The best-looking, angstiest, curiously-tight-jacket-wearing hipsters I've ever seen.
Surprisingly enough though, we found some real die-hard Wolfmother fans. To the left is Jones - an Australan born New Yorker who kept saying "11-7- 2005". Turns out that's the last time he saw Wolfmother in concert. It took me a minute to figure that out. We also met Liz, a computer repair saleswoman-turned-dominatrix and Serg, a Russian-born Brooklyn music fan who insisted on putting on the Wolfmother shirt immediately. It was a mixed bag, folks.

COSMIC EGG In Stores Now!
Posted 10/26/2009 by TheAdmin
Rolling Stone
****
“If AC and DC had a baby, Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother would be their rock & roll problem child. Cosmic Egg is wilder earthier, and freakier than the band’s 2006 debut. There isn’t a boring moment.”
Kerrang!
KKKK
“Wolfmother have exceeded expectation. Almost every track contains something fresh and off-kilter while remaining immediate and throat-grabbing at the same time.”
The bell does toll, the train has pulled into the station and thy day hath arrived, Cosmic Egg, the triumphant 2nd album by Wolfmother, is out today and available at all friendly physical and cyber retailers.
Preceded by the ripping first single "New Moon Rising," the 12 track album is now available in an array of wondrous formats. COSMIC VAN: Transmission 16 - The City Of Wolfmother-ly Love
Posted 10/26/2009 by CosmicVan
We passed through downtown Philadelphia on Tuesday, grabbed a hotel in Cherry Hill NJ and had a few minutes to kill before the David Cross show. I decided to cruise around and wound up in Hannonfield, NJ - just east of Camden. I was hoping to find some interesting keepsakes for friends, some post cards and a proper meal. An hour later I had nothing in my hands except some leftover Chinese. Later we headed into Downtown Philly for the David Cross show at the Merriam Theater. As always, we parked near the venue on Broad street and hollered at some Wolfmother fans as they cruised by, waiting for their dose of David Cross. The next night we headed to the nearby Wachovia center for the AC/DC show. We met some super cool Wolfmother fans, and heard some great stories too. One group had bumped into AC/DC singer Brian Johnson eating dinner the night before. He told the group he'd set some tickets aside for them, and amazingly enough, they were actually at will call. The whole group were clearly now lifelong AC?DC fans. We got some group photos with our new friends and gave them all some much loved Wolfmother merch, but had to move on. Right about then we got asked to leave the parking lot for the second time by security, so we figured it was a good time to leave. I guess they can't all be Wolfmother fans, right?
