KEANE SCORE FIFTH CONSECUTIVE NUMBER ONE ALBUM
Posted 5/17/2012 by TeamIGA
Keane's new album, 'Strangeland', debuted at number 1 in the UK charts on Sunday - their fifth consecutive number one album, equalling Coldplay and Radiohead, and beaten only by The Beatles.
'Strangeland' made the top ten around the world. It is their fourth studio album, after 'Hopes & Fears' (2004); 'Under The Iron Sea' (2006); 'Perfect Symmetry' (2008) and the 'Night Train' EP (2010) which also topped the UK Album Chart.
'Strangeland' has marked a hugely successful return for the band, whose other chart-topping albums were 2004’s 'Hopes And Fears', 2006’s 'Under The Iron Sea', 2008’s 'Perfect Symmetry' and 2010’s mini-LP 'Night Train' (which also topped the UK’s main album chart).
As the Sunday Times’ Culture magazine stated, 'Strangeland's literate, piano-driven songs “pull the heartstrings with a strength that even a band as notoriously emotive as Keane have rarely managed before”. Or, as the Sunday Mirror put it, “It’s good to have Keane back”.
Said Keane frontman Tom Chaplin: “Eight years ago we set out on a pretty extraordinary adventure, happy in the knowledge that just releasing a record was enough for us as a struggling band! It's a fairly surreal but lovely feeling to find that further on down the road we've now reached five out of five number one albums.
“Our bloody-mindedness and desire to keep on changing as a band seems to have kept us alive, as well as our incredibly loyal and dedicated set of fans - thanks to everyone who has supported us! We hope to see lots of you out on the road over the next year, after which I guess we'll get back in the studio to try to make it six in a row!”
Keane are now to set to continue their 'Strangeland' world tour (which has already featured sold out dates in Russia, America and Bexhill-on-Sea) with a string of sell out UK dates in May and June, before heading to North America and Europe.

'STRANGELAND' OUT TODAY!
Posted 5/8/2012 by TeamIGA
Keane’s fourth studio album Strangeland is out today, May 8, on Cherrytree/Interscope Records! Strangeland was produced by Dan Grech (Radiohead, The Vaccines, Howling Bells) at Sea Fog, Keane songwriter/pianist Tim Rice-Oxley's studio in South Downs, UK.
Keane is singer Tom Chaplin, drummer Richard Hughes, keyboardist Rice-Oxley and bassist Quin. Four years have elapsed since Keane’s last album Perfect Symmetry; two since Night Train, the EP which followed its three full-length predecessors to the top of the British album charts, securing them a place in pop history. If Keane’s feverishly loyal fanbase wondered what the group’s next album would sound like, they weren’t the only ones. In the eight years following the release of 2004’s 9× platinum Brit award winning Hopes & Fears, every Keane album has marked a clear progression from the previous one: the anxious emotional terrain mapped out by Under The Iron Sea to the iridescent poptimism of Perfect Symmetry.
“…the heart-bursting hymns to small-town dreamer that Bruce Springsteen might have written if he had grown up in Eastbourne rather than New Jersey.” – The Times
“…huge heartfelt piano anthems, that sweep, soar and make this classic Keane.” – The Sun
“So here is the ultra-Keane album...” – NME
“Strangeland is a lovely album, from the punchy, early U2-esque “On The Road” to the string-dusted torch tune “The Starting Line” and even the somber “Black Rain,” whose pitter-patter rhythms and piercing vocals conjure Radiohead.”- Alternative Press

KEANE ANNOUNCE MAY 8th RELEASE DATE OF NEW ALBUM STRANGELAND
Posted 3/14/2012 by TeamIGA
British rockers Keane will release their fourth studio album Strangeland (Cherrytree/Interscope) on May 8th in the U.S. The internationally acclaimed band will debut first single “Silenced By The Night” on Jimmy Kimmel Live March 12th (ABC, Midnight) before heading to Austin, TX for their very first showing at SXSW where they will play a handful of shows including Filter Magazine’s party on March 15th and the Rolling Stone party on March 16th.
Strangeland was produced by Dan Grech (Radiohead, The Vaccines, Howling Bells) at Sea Fog, Keane songwriter/pianist Tim Rice-Oxley's studio in South Downs, UK. Grech spoke exclusively with Billboard about his first collaboration with the group last May, who are now a four piece with the addition of new member bass player Jesse Quin who collaborated with Rice-Oxley on Mt. Desolation. Strangeland is available for pre-order now at Amazon.
Tim Rice-Oxley recently said of the album: "'Strangeland' feels like an adventure that brings with it different things for different people, and like any adventure is full of uncertainty, and the potential for mishap, as well as the possibility of amazing things and glorious discoveries. I love the idea of the journey through 'Strangeland' being a journey of redemption." For more insight into the making of Strangeland check out Keane’s album announcement album announcement.
Keane is singer Tom Chapin, drummer Richard Hughes, keyboardist Rice-Oxley and bassist Quin. Four years have elapsed since Keane’s last album Perfect Symmetry; two since Night Train, the EP which followed its three full-length predecessors to the top of the British album charts, securing them a place in pop history. “In many respects, it feels like the completion of a circle,” says drummer Richard Hughes. “ On the album you have songs that draw upon the experiences we used to share as kids, growing up in Battle. You can never really go back, of course. Once in a while though, after a good day, we’ll go to the local pub and talk about everything and nothing until it’s time to go home. Whatever it is that makes us Keane – that invisible glue – is still there. And you can hear it all over ‘Strangeland’.”
Keane recently announced a U.K. tour kicking off in May 2012. A June tour of the U.S. is in the works, routing to be announced soon.
