I have found Serenity!Posted 10/16/2007 by Vagrant_Admin I am watching “Serenity” for the umpteenth time and I have to tell you that this is the most under rated bit of science fiction ever made. It’s the movie follow up to the short-lived Joss Whedon television series “Firefly”. “Serenity”, which takes it’s title from the name of the Firefly class ship the crew travel in, is the kind of movie that adults that loved the original star wars trilogy as kids had hoped the prequels would be. This is mainly because every bit of the film is like a western in outer space. All the characters seem to be kin of Han Solo. All the women are tough (even Kaley). All the terrain is treacherous. All the dialogue is Whedonesque. All the bad guys are actually bad (not silly robots).
I really hope Mr. Whedon makes a sequel to this film, finds his way to a new series on television, and gets to make his Wonder Women feature film soon because I am going through major withdrawal.
Buffy Season 8 is incredible, but the comic book supplier that I subscribe to it through has stopped sending me my copies (very cruel!), and the issues stopped coming with the release of the Brian K Vaughan penned issue with Faith on the cover!!!!!
