Sallie Mae Hosts ’Songs for the Shelter’ to Support Shade Tree

John Waite Hosts Jurassic 5 and Jem at Shade Tree VI
WHAT:
Sallie Mae’s 300-person call-center in Summerlin, Nev. is hosting “Shade
Tree VI: Songs for The Shelter,” a benefit concert to raise money for The Shade
Tree Women's Shelter, a local non-profit organization that provides services to
more than 4,000 homeless women and children each month.
WHO:
The concert, hosted by British Rocker John Waite, will feature the popular
hip-hop group Jurassic 5, and VH-1 breakout artist, Jem. Portland, Oregon’s
Geoff Byrd will open the show.
Sallie Mae employees have elected to forgo their holiday party for the
sixth consecutive year in order to host this benefit for The Shade Tree Women's
Shelter.
TICKETS:
The concert is open to the public. General admission tickets are $25 and
reserved seats are $40.
HOST TICKETS:
A limited number of $100 host tickets include admission to a private
acoustic performance by John Waite with special guest Holly Brook. Host ticket
holders also are invited to the private after-show party with John Waite,
Jurassic 5, Jem, and Geoff Byrd in the House of Blues: Oba Room.
All tickets can be purchased by contacting the House of Blues ticket office
at 702-632-7600.
PROCEEDS:
All ticket proceeds will go to The Shade Tree Women’s Shelter. In addition,
The Sallie Mae Fund, a charitable organization sponsored by Sallie Mae, is
contributing a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $30,000 of the proceeds from the
event. Last year's concert raised more than $60,000 for The Shelter. The event
has raised over $250,000 since 1999.
