is that it is refreshingly honest and has not one iota of pretense. Robert could have included more obscure, dark and/or experimental work but he chose songs that he truly enjoys and I find that respectable. Some fans tend to shun pop songs (not just by The Cure but in general), while others (like me) are embarrassed to admit they enjoy pop on occasion, and Robert’s list (though not all pop) implies that it’s perfectly acceptable to embrace this particular genre. Some of the selections were rather eye-opening (i.e., Human League, Soft Cell). I know Robert isn’t too fond of Duran Duran or a few other unmentionable artists, but I had always wondered if he was a fan of Pet Shop Boys (oh no...hopefully it’s not too taboo to list RSX and PSB in the same sentence!). Perusing the list it looks like that’s not the case. Perhaps this may be b/c (some of) the latter’s work may be too mainstream, slick, and/or commercialized. I wish RS could do more of these types of lists. I vaguely remember the old Bloodflowers site listing each band member’s favorite films, artists, places, etc.
