Kate Nash -->
 Bust Magazine on Made of BricksPosted 2/1/2008 by Geffen MySpace phenom and British fave, indie popstar Kate Nash shows us some of the cracks in her foundation on her debut album, Made of Bricks. Written after the twenty-something broke her foot and was housebound for three weeks, each song paints a fantastically detailed picture of young love, but they aren't all very pretty. With a handful of well-polished demos at best, the real magnetism of the album lies heavily in Nash's more complex tracks, like the hard-to-ignore "Foundations" and poptastic (if oddly named) "Pumpkin Soup." The other real draw is Nash herself. Though very much like her heavily-accented predecessors Lily Allen and Jamie T, she's more coy than frank in her observations. This original and vulnerable edge makes her easy to warm in which is good, 'cause we're certain she'll stick around. [Lisa Greenwood] Digg | Del.icio.us | Facebook |
