"Getting a break: O'Donis, who plays guitar and piano, had to be patient to get his career in gear. He signed to Akon's then-fledgling Kon Live label, distributed through Geffen/Interscope, nearly three years ago. He had other offers but thought Kon Live gave him the best opportunity to grow. "I played my demo (for Akon) and he loved it. The chemistry between us was crazy, and he said he wanted me to be a part of his new label." So while the popularity of Akon and labelmate T-Pain exploded, O'Donis stayed in the studio writing and producing about 40 songs, of which 13 or 14 will make the cut." - USAToday.com
